How to choose a foundation for your skin
BeautyOkay so you probably think that this is simple right? No it’s not. The thing is that there are so many many different brands on the market and each one of them will advertise that theirs is the best one. It is always and I mean always up to YOU. YOU have to choose what suits your skin tone. Don’t ever be forced by any consultant to buy something you know does not work for your skin. So, let’s answer some common questions:
What is foundation made of? Foundations are made of water, oil or wax. Talc is added which helps spread the colour. Pigments found in founadations are iron oxide and titanium dioxide in shades of red, yellow and black and this helps recreate a more natural skin. It covers blemishes, wrinkles, sun spots and those nasty marks made by zits.
What type of foundations are there? There are liquid, serum, tinted oil foundation, cream foundation, whipped mousse, stick foundation and powder foundations. The most common being the liquid foundation. It glides easily, does not leave streaks and gives a better overall cover.
How do I choose a foundation for my skin? Figure out your skin tone. Identify your undertone whether it is yellow, pale or pink. Then choose a shade either ivory, porcelain, beige, warm beige, golden or almond.
Where should I test my foundation? The proper way would be on the cheek and below the jaw line. Always ask for a colour to be tested before you buy. Most often you may need 2 colours to get the colour which you want.
The one golden rule is NEVER EVER sleep with foundation on. It is makeup and only temporary. Before you go to bed make sure that you cleanse, tone , apply a serum and then your night cream.
