WHAT MY SKIN NEEDS
BeautyI have always worried about my skin and how I would look as I get older but thanks to my good genes and the fact that I do not smoke or drink, I am able to take care of my my skin with minimal products. My routine is therefore simple, cleanse, tone, moisturise and sunscreen. At night, I would cleanse, tone, apply a serum and then my night cream. But there are days when I have to wear makeup and on these days I would definately double cleanse before I apply a moisturiser. The funny thing though is that my skin tends to change with the seasons or if I had an extremely busy day and find myself alittle stressed, my skin often flares up and becomes red or sometimes even too dry. This is the time when I give my skin a little TLC and REST from too many products; I merely cleanse, then apply an AVE’NE cold cream and relax. It does actually relive the dryness and redness and clams my skin. I feel that it is always WISE to give your skin a breather from your daily products. Remember the skin is a growing cell, it repairs itself and it needs a break to work at its own pace. Basically, its how we choose to age and looking the BEST we can whatever our style or age. I think that I am at an age that I am confident in my own skin and happy with the way I look and feel. Too many harsh treatments can also dehydrate the skin, so I keep away from certain exfoliators and skin peels. Okay, yes, I do exfoliate my skin once a week but I use a mild powder and when mixed with water produces a soapy-like solution. This I would use to gentlely massage onto my skin in circular movements and rinse off thoroughly. i would then follow my normal routine of cleanse, tone and then moisturise. Yes, I do have concerns about pigmentation as I get older but I think that I will deal with that when I get there. For now, I will eat right, exercise and stay healthy so that my skin can get all the oxygen it needs to repair and stay in a peek condition. Maybe in a few years time, I will re-evaluate my skin and see how I can help it stay supple but for now I will just embrace the way I look.
